Arsenal Tables Ridiculous Maddison Bid
Maddison is said to be keen on the move to the Emirates, and a close source claim that the north Londoners have tried to drive Leicester’s £60m price tag down by offering the Foxes a choice of one of four players to throw into the deal.
Those players are Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah, but Leicester are said to prefer a cash-only deal for Maddison.
The Foxes were linked with a move for Maitland-Niles last January, but he opted to join West Brom on loan as he would get more game-time in his preferred central midfield position.
Willock thrived in front of goal during his loan spell at Newcastle in the tail end of last season, and both Nelson and Nketiah have had temporary spells away from the Emirates in the past.
Maddison did lose his place in the Leicester side towards the end of last season as he suffered with injury problems, but Rodgers would prefer to keep hold of him ahead of another busy season which will include Europa League football.
Arteta has made Maddison his top choice for the creative midfield position, even though there is now a renewed optimism that a deal for Odegaard could be done
