“Maybe It Was the Last Chance”: Alonso Makes Honest Admission After Man City Defeat

“It’s disappointing. It was maybe the last chance to keep on fighting for the Premier League,” Marcos Alonso admitted after the Man City defeat, as per the official Chelsea website.

“We will keep trying until the end, until it’s gone mathematically, but it will be difficult now.

“We need to think about Brighton in three days, win that one, keep training hard and not look at the table at this moment.

“There are a lot of games but I just focus on recovering and getting ready for the next one. It’s tough sometimes but it’s what we like, to play games, so I’m not going to complain about that.”

“The calendar is busy but it is what it is and we have no excuses. We have a deep squad so we cannot complain about injuries and try to find excuses. We need to keep working hard.

“We have a lot of great players in this squad so, with determination and a lot of hard training, we can do anything and fight for everything.”

Chelsea are now 13 points adrift in the title race as Man City appear to be running away with the trophy.

The game on Saturday showed that Thomas Tuchel’s side have to work even harder to reach the levels that Man City are at.
