Lukaku is heavily linked with a return to Stamford Bridge as he believes he has unfinished busines s after an underwhelming first spell with the Blues between 2011 and 2014.
The Belgian is considered one of the finest strikers in Europe having scored at least 25 goals in all but one of the last six seasons with Everton, Manchester United or Inter Milan.
And De Bruyne has no doubt his compatriot would keep up his prolific scoring rate if he rejoined Chelsea.
“People give Rom a lot of stick and he is a victim on social media, but Lukaku is a striker who will score 20 to 25 goals for Man United – and any other club,” De Bruyne told the Daily Mail of his close friend earlier this summer.
“His goal ratio is insane. He belongs to the best strikers in the world.”
De Bruyne – who also spent a brief spell alongside Lukaku in west London – is not the only world-class operator to heap praise on the Inter No. 9 in recent years.
