Edo public school activities , scheduled to resume on Monday been January 18th will no longer go as plan , as primary school teachers and school heads are to embark on an indefinite strike on Monday.
State wing executive council ( SWEC) edo state NIgerian union of teachers on Wednesday in Benin gave the to embark on an indefinite strike after the government did not meet their 10 demand .
The statement which was signed by the state chairman Mr pius Okhueleigbe, and the assistant secretary-general, Mr Moni Mike Modesty Itua, and three others.

Mr pius and other said the strike was inevitable after the expiration of the 21 days and 14 days ultimatum to the state government to find solutions to their financial and other entitlement or will call for an indefinite strike.
Recall that the union on December 8th and 29th 2020 gave a 21 and 14 days ultimatum to the government to fulfill and meet their terms.
The unionists who listed their demands as the payment of the 2013 to 2015 promotion arrears of teachers in Oredo, Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode local government areas in the state.
As well as the guarantee payment of primary school teachers monthly salaries on or before the 27th of every month in line with the directive of the state governor His Excellency Godwin Obaseki .
Another demand from the unionist was the 30 percent implementation of special allowances for teachers in schools for challenge children’s and all arrears.
The directives from the chapter stat chairman , ordered all primary school heads and teachers in the 18 local government area of the state should unfailing embark on an indefinite strike action starting from 12:00 ( early Monday ) January 18th.
And also ensure that all Educational tools in their care should be put on off mode.
He however commend members of the Edo State House of Assembly committee on education, Controller of Labour, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for their intervention.
the unionists expressed dissatisfaction over the glaring and persistent nonchalant attitude of the state government which has refused to make an attempts in meeting with the union during the period of the ultimatums for a dialogue.
He also called on , well meaning NIgerian, lovers of education and institutions in the state to prevail on the state government on the union demands.
Me pius also warned parents to keep their wards away from school premises during the strike period.
