In the Manchester derby’s 6-3 defeat to City, Man United could do nothing with Erling Haaland or Phil Foden both of whom scored a hat-trick – Haaland also added two assists.
In fairness, the contest was over after the first half when City were 4-0 up. The second half was not that relevant, even though United managed to gain some respectability through Antony’s brilliant goal and Anthony Martial’s brace.
The main conclusion, however, is that United were firmly shown their place in the Premier League – they are nowhere near fighting for the biggest trophies yet.

Pep Guardiola was asked whether he was surprised at how poor Man United were in Sunday’s Manchester Derby.
“No, we were good. We were good,” he replied.
“We were good. It’s not about United, we were good. Second half, they were better and they played good. When Bruno, Eriksen, Lisandro or Dalot, everyone can play, Luke Shaw.
“Players don’t lose the balls. You run, you suffer. So, but the first half we were better.”
