Frank Lampard Sends Message To Cristiano Ronaldo After Scoring 700th Club Goals Against His Everton Side

Speaking to the media about Cristiano Ronaldo after the game on Sunday, Everton manager Frank Lampard said: “It is just outstanding, isn’t it? He’s one of the greatest players that has graced the game.

“To be going and look as physically good as he looks, to keep scoring goals as he’s done, the abnormal numbers he has racked up have become normal, year after year, looking after himself in the right way.

“I don’t know him particularly well but you can do nothing but admire those numbers. When he was on 699 [goals at club level], I wanted him to score in the Europa League the other night.

“You could feel might come at the weekend and then he comes on, because Anthony Martial’s got a problem. Sometimes those things happen in football. But in the cold light of day I’ll give him huge credit for that, it’s amazing.”

Lampard has come up against Ronaldo on more than one occasion during his time playing for Chelsea and the England national team.

The 37-year-old scored his 700th club goal on Sunday, helping Manchester United secure their fifth win of the 2022-23 Premier League season.
