Man United Players Call United Coach ‘Ted Lasso’ – What It Means Has Finally Been Revealed
During his pre-Southampton press conference, a reporter asked Ralf Rangnick about the Manchester United players’ less-than-flattering nickname for Chris Armas.
ESPN has claimed that the team refers to the American as ‘Ted Lasso’ – a fictional comedy coach who knows nothing about managing a football side.
The German boss replied: “I don’t read newspapers, and I don’t know about those articles.
“I can assure that training is.. The way that the team has developed is obvious. Tactically this is due to the work we are doing in training on the pitch.

“We are doing the video analysis with them, and the training we are doing all the important training games. There are small-sided games, 11 v 11s, and we did a lot of rondos.”

Rangnick added: “We are doing those little games to increase fluidity and get better with our possession of the ball. It is part of the training sessions.”
The players are believed to be unhappy with the coaching set-up at the club – a problem we had under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well.
Ironically enough, our performances on the field appear to suggest that it’s the players who need to work harder.
