Wayne Rooney Finally Names His Best Choice For Manchester United Next Manager

Discussing who should be the next Manchester United manager during an interview with Sky Sports, Wayne Rooney explained: “[Mauricio] Pochettino has done it in the Premier League [with Tottenham].

“He knows the league. If I’m choosing between those two [Poch and Erik ten Hag], I’d go for Pochettino.

“He would need time and given time he would do well.”

The Old Trafford legend added: “There hasn’t been a settled manager there since Alex Ferguson. The new manager needs time.

“It didn’t work with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it hasn’t worked with the new manager [Ralf Rangnick] who has come in.

“Pochettino is a top manager and he knows how to work with top-class players and young players. They need to get that blend right because they can’t afford to fail again.”

Interestingly, both Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson appear to want the PSG boss to take charge over Ten Hag.

United have had a season to forget after crashing out of the FA Cup, the Champions League and potentially missing a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Sacking Solskjaer mid-season did more harm than good as Rangnick hasn’t been able to deliver the results that were initially expected.

While Pochettino is still linked with the job, top outlets have claimed that Ten Hag is the preferred candidate to manage the club permanently.
