Erik ten Hag Finally Reveals When Cristiano Ronaldo Will Return To Manchester United Squad

During his pre-Chelsea press conference, Erik ten Hag was asked if Cristiano Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute vs Tottenham Hotspur.

The Manchester United boss simply said: “Yes.”

Reporters then asked him if the 37-year-old still has a role to play in the future, to which Ten Hag replied: “What the talk – if you ask about that – is between Cristiano and me.
“The statement [we put out] is also clear, I think. He remains an important player in the squad.

“I am the manager, I am responsible for the culture here and I have to set standards and values and I have to control them. In the team, we have values and standards and I have to control that.

“After [Rayo] Vallecano, I told him it was unacceptable but not him everyone, this is the second time, there are consequences.

“We miss him tomorrow. It’s a miss for the squad but it’s important for the attitude and mentality of the group and now we have to focus on Chelsea as that is important.”

The 37-year-old is training with the U21s as he’s not part of the matchday preparations to face Chelsea this weekend.

Ronaldo could also be fined for his actions as Ten Hag hopes to maintain a sense of discipline in the squad.
