Manchester United are set to announce the signing of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on a loan till the summer.
The move was ignited by the fact that Christian Eriksen has been ruled out until May after picking up an injury against Reading.
Sabitzer was also on United’s radar last summer and the club saw an opportunity for a loan move.
The Austrian can play in the central defensive and attacking midfield, while also being capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder. At times Sabitzer has been deployed down the right wing as well.
So what does it mean for Ten Hag and how can he line up his squad with the arrival of Sabitzer? Here are some of the options:
Option 1

In a 4-1-2-3 formation Sabitzer could partner Bruno playing as the more offensive midfielder while Casemiro provides cover.

Option 2

Ten Hag also has the option of playing a more conservative formation with Sabitzer helping Casemiro shield the defense while Bruno plays as the CAM.
Option 3

The third option is a more unlikely one but just helps to visualize Sabitzer’s versatility as he could even play on the right wing in a 4-4-2 much like Ji-Sung Park did in Sir Alex Ferguson’s teams.
