Manchester United are looking to sign Kalvin Phillips this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Paul Pogba is likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, leaving the Red Devils short of midfield options ahead of the 2022/23 season.
With Erik ten Hag expected to take over from Ralf Rangnick, the Dutchman will have several options when it comes to playing the England international.
1. Anchor Man
The Leeds United midfielder could be playing in the anchor man role after excelling in that position at Leeds. Replacing aging Nemanja Matic, the Englishman would allow Man United’s attacking players more freedom in the final third by helping at the back.
2. Double Pivot
Kalvin Phillips could play alongside Scott McTominay in midfield, replacing Fred. The Brazilian has done well for Man United this season but it remains to be seen whether Ten Hag would be ready to overlook the 29-year-old’s many flaws.
