What Jose Mourinho Said About Diogo Dalot At Man United On His Debut Has Been Recalled

Diogo Dalot was signed for Manchester United by Jose Mourinho in 2018.

Although it’s taken some time, the Portuguese is finally taking strides toward establishing himself as our go-to right-back.

After another good performance in our 3-0 win over Leicester City, here’s a look at what Mourinho said of Dalot all those years ago.

Speaking after the defender’s debut in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal, Mourinho told reporters: “We shoot ourselves so many times during the season.

“Big soul by the players, fantastic attitude from the first minute. Some good performances, some players in difficulty, Dalot, Rojo, Darmian, Bailly, Smalling – the boys left their souls.”

Jose added: “Gary Neville must be thinking now Manchester United has a very good right-back for 10 years. In the last four matches, we didn’t lose. Bad results? Yes. But four matches we didn’t lose.”

Of course, Neville was one of our longest-serving players at right-back. Since he left, Dalot looks like the only one who could come close to replicating that level of trust.

And to have Mourinho say that about you is only the cherry on top!
