Why Azpilicueta Wants To Meet With Tuchel Over His Possible Move To Barcelona Revealed – It Favors Chelsea

According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Cesar Azpilicueta has not yet made the final decision on his future, even though he has an offer from Barcelona on the table.

The Chelsea captain does not want to leave the club on bad terms. That’s why he wants to meet Thomas Tuchel and the new owners to find out their plans for him.

A one-year extension clause in his contract has been triggered automatically after Azpilicueta made 30 appearances for the club this season.

That would mean that Chelsea are within their rights to demand a transfer fee if the Spaniard moves to Barcelona.

The La Liga side, however, do not want to pay anything for Chelsea. Earlier, it was expected that Azpilicueta would be allowed to leave for free out of the Blues’ respect for the captain.

This would likely be the case under Roman Abramovich but it’s not clear how that might change with Todd Boehly taking over.
